Lerina Bright is Executive Director and Co-Founder of Mission 89, the only organisation in the world exclusively dedicated to combating human trafficking in, through, and around sport. With over 15 years of experience across international sports governance — including roles at CONCACAF, the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the International Canoe Federation, and G-14 — she brings deep institutional knowledge to Mission 89’s research, education, and advocacy work.
Lerina’s path to founding Mission 89 began when she encountered the largely invisible world of sport trafficking — young athletes moved across borders under false pretences, abandoned in unfamiliar countries, left without legal or financial protection. Driven by the conviction that systemic change requires evidence, advocacy, and education working together, she built Mission 89 from the ground up into a recognised voice in international child protection and sport governance.
She holds an MA in Sport Administration from the AISTS (Academy of International Sports Administration) in Lausanne, Switzerland, and a BA in International Studies and Economics from the University of Miami, Florida. Lerina serves on the Council of Europe EPAS Safe Sport Commission, the Integrity & Sustainability Commission of the World Baseball Softball Confederation, and is a member of INTERPOL’s Human Trafficking Expert Group.

His governance expertise and global network across sport federations and international institutions have been instrumental in establishing Mission 89’s credibility and reach.

He has also supported Football for Peace Global in the UK and the Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation in Kenya. He met Co-Founder Lerina Bright through the Olympic Truce Academy in 2007, leading naturally to the co-founding of Mission 89 in 2017.
